YOUTH FOR PEACE INITIATIVE 2016
Ghana has long been known as the oasis of peace in the sea of instability in West Africa. The country’s unparalleled democratic credentials was given further impetus with the successful organization of one of Africa’s freest, most transparent, and credible elections on six consecutive occasions. Due to the above, the Ghanaian youth decided to walk on the street of Accra for peace.
YOUTH FOR PEACE WALK 2016, is one of the biggest gathering ever where individuals would come together in the name of peace.

Never in history has violence won any war even if it does, it comes with a prize perhaps loss of lives, destruction of property etc, and that is what the Ghanaian youth want to prevent.
They said instead of fighting with guns or any other weapons they will rather uise their energy to match PEACE.
YOUTH FOR PEACE 2016 (YFP 2016) organized by Dels Foundation and PeaceAids International(PAI), Young African leadership initiative (yali), , Young African leadership Network (Yaln), Graphic Communication Group as partners and supported by radio Ghana.
YFP 2016 is a youth-created and youth-led initiative aimed at proactively diffusing the young people’s orientation towards political violence fueled by a perception of being cheated at the election.
The goal of the organizers of YOUTH FOR PEACE WALK 2016 is committed
to redirecting the potential of the Ghanaian Youth to productive ventures; to empower them with knowledge and skills in peace building, leadership development, as they are made Ambassadors of Peace. However, another objective of this event is to reduce the negative involvement of the Ghanaian youth, especially during elections and other events that often spark up tension, and have the tendency of violence. So, we look forward to your institution sponsoring us to organize such a great event.
The walk will be under the theme: “saying no to youth involvement in electoral violence”.
WHO WILL ATTEND?
Youth for Peace Walk 2016: Youth for Peace Walk 2016 initiative will involve over 5000 young Peace Ambassadors, Presidential Candidates or Vice-Presidential candidates of the various political parties, National Youth Organisers of the various parties, religious leaders, business leaders, women leaders, and the media. At the end of the walk, the Presidential Candidates or their Vice Presidential Candidates and the Youth Organizers will be made to sign a National Peace Pledge/Accord to hold their supporters in check to prevent electoral violence.

ROUTE AND VENUES: The Peace Walk will start from University of Ghana,Legon around Okponglo at 6:00am and end at the Independence Square; after which there will be peace message/speech. Sponsors will be given the opportunity to display their products and branding both on the route and the finish point.
